Grow Public Schools
Teacher Residency at Alder GSE

Grow Public Schools is excited to announce our Teacher Residency partnership with Alder Graduate School of Education (GSE). The Alder GSE Program is a residency model (developed by the Aspire charter network) that combines immersive hands-on practice in the classroom with a rigorous curriculum of research-based coursework — consisting of in-person seminars as well as online instruction — culminating in a Master of Arts in Education with a concentration in Teaching or Special Education and Teaching Credential.

Each Resident is paired with an expert mentor educator, spending four days a week in the classroom participating in hands-on teaching, and approximately one day a week spent in collaboration with a regional cohort in seminars that bridge educational theory and research with the direct experience taking place in the classroom.

Alder GSE provides an affordable and supportive path to a rewarding and successful teaching career. As an Alder student, you will receive:

  • A Master’s Degree and Teaching Credential

  • A year-long apprenticeship with an excellent, trained mentor teacher

  • A cohort with whom to learn and grow

  • Academic support from an expert Instructional Director dedicated to your development and to creating a strong cohort experience

  • Access to financial aid (federal loans and grants), scholarships, and other financial benefits

  • Eligibility for loan deferral during the program

  • A 50% discount on credential test preparation courses and additional testing supports, including free test preparation resources

  • A financial stipend (availability and amount varies by partner schools)

  • Priority hiring at one of the Grow Public Schools campuses

We are currently recruiting a cohort of teacher residents who want to join our mission to close the opportunity gap for underserved communities in rural Kern County.  This is an innovative and affordable pathway to a full-time teaching career in our community while gaining hands-on classroom experience.
